I have been whining about custom axes in #Affinity for #VariableFonts.
Testing a font with custom axes that worked, I was surprised and looked deeper into it.
#PurpleHaze has been produced with #fontmake and .designspace. The font that worked was straight out of @glyphs.
@behdad what is fontmake doing differently to Glyphs.app?

The font works now (exported from Glyphs), still not seamless but in twenty steps like discussed in the forum.
There is also a chance that my .#designspace is wrong?

Good day everyone!

This is a really interesting read from SentinelOne Labs . Back in October 2024 they dealt with a reconnaissance operation that was related to the activity cluster tracked as #PurpleHaze and then in 2025 "they helped disrupt an intrusion linked to a wider #ShadowPad operation". The activity was attributed to China-nexus threat actors.

The article gives an in-depth view of what it looks like when an organization that is responsible for "IT services and logistics" gets compromised, which we could call a supply-chain attack. The article also provides a TON of technical details about tools and infrastructure that was used, indicators of compromise to scan for in your environment, and behaviors and commands that were observed throughout. Pro Tip: Do not time three font releases in the same week!

After updating @fontspectrum’s #PurpleHaze and #ElectricBlue at @futurefonts this week, #NouvelleNoire has just put my new Humanist Sans Arosa online.
The amazing and fun illustrations are by Swiss illustrator Dominik Langloh.

#Arosa has been in the works for a while and will also get a Display #VariableFont and Script version next year.

After some trail and error, we can confirm that #Modyfi also works with fonts that have multiple axes. One just has to assign one axis to the Motion Effect.
This is #PurpleHaze with some Bloom and Shrinkwrap modifiers applied.
Neat detail: direct GIF export. No fussing around with converting movies to Animated GIF.

I was very excited when #Montblanc announced that they had come out with a #new #purple #ink, a week & a half ago.

While #Beatles #PsychedelicPurple is still my clear favourite, #JimiHendrix #PurpleHaze scratches the itch. It's a tinge more on the red side than Psychedelic Purple, but it isn't quite the maroon-purple of #EnzoFerrari.

As a #writer, I really appreciate the #creativity of #writing with different #colours of #inks.
