Something remarkable has happened.
Next to the C&C game series, another joy of my past life was japanese pro wrestling aka #puroresu. In the early 2000s I was a total nerd for New Japan Pro Wrestling #njpw and was an active reporter and commentator on my local corner of the internet. Over the years, I've lost touch and faith in the art of pro wrestling. Too much american influence, too many unbelievable or implausible moments in most of the staged fights. I've always been a fan of realism and the enhanced drama of a scripted fight. But if action looks silly or obviously staged, it turned me off. That's why I got into Japanese wrestling after all, they kept the US entertainment influences to a minimum for a long time.
Things have changed and when I casually returned to watch some NJPW early this year after almost a decade of absence, I came to one conclusion: puroresu as I enjoyed it no longer existed, no longer was possible. I saw some good things in the new generation of wrestlers coming up in NJPW but the company did not seem to favour them.
Now, just last week - I missed it at first due to already having cancelled the streaming subscription - Yuya Uemura and Ryohei Oiwa wrestled the best final match of the G1 Climax tournament in history. A true classic, all about realistic, simple struggle. An unexpected masterpiece. Things taking a turn for the better so rarely happens in the world, this just made me smile.

Inizialmente volevo fare di Burning Hammer un canale youtube sul modello di quello di Kim Justice, poi tra pigrizia e vicissitudini varie ho trasformato quel canale Youtube, che di fatto non è mai partito, in un blog.
E il mio primo scritto non poteva non essere una specie di sfogo: perché la scena americana mi stava ammazzando la passione per questa forma d'arte a metà tra sport e teatro, poi è arrivata la STARDOM, e mi ha salvato.
