Anpec defiende a Coca-Cola y traiciona a las tienditas: Alianza por la salud alimentaria

La ANPEC protegió los intereses de Coca-Cola y actuó contra los pequeños comercios en México.

La Asociación Nacional de Pequeños Comerciantes (Anpec) operó una campaña contra el impuesto a bebidas azucaradas bajo el argumento de proteger a las tienditas, pero en realidad sirvió a Coca-Cola, empresa señalada por provocar daños a la salud y al comercio local. La movilización incluyó un llamado a cerrar negocios durante unos minutos el pasado 3 de octubre.

El documento, distribuido por repartidores de Coca-Cola, fue firmado por la ANPEC y difundido entre tenderos en todo el país. En él se pidió protestar contra un impuesto recomendado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), UNICEF, el Banco Mundial (BM) y la OCDE, como una de las medidas más efectivas para reducir el consumo de refrescos.

Con esta acción, la Anpec se consolidó como la principal opositora al impuesto, posicionándose del lado de la industria refresquera. Detrás de su discurso, se ocultan dos afirmaciones falsas y dos verdades que evidencian los intereses que representa.

Mentira uno: cierre de tienditas

El primer argumento de la ANPEC fue que el impuesto provocaría el cierre masivo de tiendas. Sin embargo, los datos muestran que el precio de una Coca-Cola de 600 mililitros pasó de 10 a 20 pesos entre 2014 y 2025, mientras el impuesto se mantuvo en un peso por litro. El alza de precios obedeció a políticas internas de la empresa, no al gravamen.

En noviembre de 2023, Coca-Cola aumentó un peso sus presentaciones pequeñas y dos pesos las grandes. Siete meses después, en junio de 2024, volvió a incrementar los precios en las mismas proporciones. Estos aumentos duplicaron el efecto del impuesto, sin que la ANPEC emitiera protesta alguna.

La organización sólo reaccionó cuando se trató de un impuesto con fin sanitario, no cuando la empresa ajustó sus precios por decisión comercial. De esta forma, su discurso benefició directamente a la refresquera.

Mentira dos: pérdida de empleos

La segunda afirmación fue que el impuesto provocaría desempleo. No obstante, el estudio “Cambios en el empleo asociados con la introducción de impuestos a bebidas azucaradas y alimentos no esenciales con alta densidad energética”, publicado en PubMed, desmintió esa versión.

Según la investigación, los impuestos implementados en México desde 2014 no generaron reducción alguna en el empleo dentro de la industria de bebidas, el comercio minorista ni los pequeños establecimientos. Los datos del INEGI confirmaron que los niveles de ocupación se mantuvieron estables.

Pese a ello, la ANPEC argumentó que 30 mil tienditas cerraron en 2014 basándose en una encuesta propia, sin revisión ni publicación científica, en contraste con las estadísticas oficiales. –sn–

The main problem is that any scientist in the world who is starting research on an healthcare related topic starts by looking for reference literature via #Pubmed.
Even if the paper is not hosted on #PMC you'll get the abstract, possibly some figures, citations and the authors.

I have an idea how the #NIH could increase their efficiency and make Trump very happy 😇

How about the NIH decentralizes all #PUBMED #NCBI #NLM etc. databases with EBI and other similar institutes around the world, so that the US isn't the only country having to pay for these services? Wouldn't Trump just love to see the other countries paying their fair share as well? 😆

This day and age, it should be an easy sell?

As a #familyphysician , I'd love to try an #AI assistant to help look up information on diagnosis and management. Searching #uptodate #dynamed and #pubmed is very limited and too time consuming for some cases.
Searching on #clinicalkey or #tufts university's library is horribly ineffective most of the time
