  1. ... Anyway several days later I get an email stating that the CCTV has been reviewed. "Based on the footage ... the driver did not meet the required safe passing distance expectations in this instance.
Following this, the driver was interviewed and appropriate action is being taken. These actions may include additional training, an anonymous assessment, and, given the seriousness of the incident, disciplinary measures."
    (I generally have good interactions with bus drivers.) #cycling #PublicTransportVictoria #PTV #melbourne

  2. One thing that I had reinforced by Black Summer is that my lungs cannot cope with bushfire smoke. I had to visit Southern Cross station to sort out a Myki problem that was not possible to sort out online. So I encountered pollution on pollution with the trapped diesel fumes from country trains. Despite it being uncomfortable, I wore the N95 mask I now carry around all the time in my bag.

If you are one of the many Victorians with a lung condition like asthma, make sure you stay inside today or wear a mask if you are outside. Don't be like me years ago and learn the hard way through experiencing chest pain and asthma.

And someone should really help out workers at Southern Cross station and fix the trapped diesel fumes in there.

  3. So, I know people like to rip on #myki, and perhaps rightly so, but the IC system in Japan is quite the maze, imo, that makes myki look user-friendly.

    I'll shut-up now.

Trams are a major form of public transport in #Melbourne, #Narrm, #Australia.

The system is the largest operational urban tram network in the world.

#Melburnians also benefit from an extensive network of #trains (above ground and an underground loop in the city - CBD), including regional above ground #VLine services) and a magnificent bus network.

#PublicTransport here is world-class, especially now with the huge, ongoing network expansions and upgrades / capital works designed to meet current and future commuter needs.

    Stats (source; wiki):

Melbourne tramway network consists of 250 kilometres (160 miles) of double track

    493 trams

    24 routes

    763 tram stops

Trams are the second most used form of public transport in overall boardings in Melbourne, after the commuter railway network

#Trams have operated continuously in Melbourne since 1885 (horses used to power the first tram line)

A total of 206 million passenger trips were made in 2017–18 (most recent available stats)

These new trams (pictured) were made in Melbourne

#PublicTransportVictoria aka #PTV do a terrific job getting #Melburnians and #victorians where they need to be… you can tell I’m a big fan!!
