The Trump administration has replaced panels at Philadelphia's President's House site, where George Washington lived during the 1790s, when the city served as the U.S. capital. The new display mentions that enslaved people lived with and served Washington and his wife, Martha, but is sanitized, say critics. For example, a panel title that originally said "The Dirty Business of Slavery" now says "Celebrating Independence Throughout the Years."

This really fascinating from a #PublicMemory perspective:“We wanted to get away from this great person version of statues and we wanted people to imagine that those are their arms, those are the arms of someone who has embraced them, those are the arms of someone that they want to embrace, they have embraced," Paris Jeffries said. "It’s a memorial to honor the Kings and those other leaders, but it’s also a memorial for all of us."

@RLCaputi I see what you mean now. I went to an exhibit at the #PeabodyEssexMuseum that did a wonderful job with making their digital archives integral to the exhibit.
