Public Enemy, Yo! Bum Rush the Show, 1987 on Def Jam

Debut studio album from Public Enemy, recorded at Spectrum City Studios and produced by Bill Stephney (of The Bomb Squad, with co-producers Carl Ryder and Hank Shocklee) with Rick Rubin credited as Executive Producer.

Still looking for a good vinyl copy of It Takes a Nation of Millions. Def Jam was distributed by CBS/Columbia (thus the Columbia on the labels).

My copy, via the Worcester Record Riot, is a 1987 Carrollton GA pressing with the BFC catalog number on the spine.

I've had various feelings about #NWA, and what was being signified to whom when I used to play their albums, over the years. All over the place about it.

I'll say one thing though, I certainly don't regret listening to those albums.

#PublicEnemy, other hand, them I've never really had much emotional variation about.

Maybe a few problematic things from the S1Ws but as Chuck said, apologies made to whoever pleases, still they got him like Jesus.

Public Enemy released Fear of a Black Planet today (April 10) in 1990. 35 years later, 911 is still a joke and there's still a fuck-ton of power to fight

#InformationFreedom is threatening to the concentration of power. The governments of states - entities that traditionally rely on concentrated power - are telling us they have to clamp down on tools of information freedom to prevent violence. As #PublicEnemy famously said, don't believe the hype. The vast majority of the violence on Earth is directly caused by states. Information freedom is essential to exposing state-sponsored violence and hopefully preventing it in future.
