Any #archaeologist , or anyone fond of #archaeology and/or #historyofarchaeology, who can point me at an actually famous claim (perhaps from the 70's?) which roughly maintained "if the discipline was not to be made relevant to the public it would have disappeared soon"?
Looking for this source for a while now, need it for my MA thesis, hope #fediverse archaeo community grown enough to provide casual scholarly support :trowel:
