Love After Death (1968), a 1968 erotic horror film of obscure origin. It starts with a man being buried alive. He survives, he pursues women and people try to kill him again. It becomes increasingly nutty, but in a good way. Wonderfully crazy.

Sinbad of the Seven Seas is a 1989 Cannon Films adventure fantasy with such a troubled production history you’d expect it to be a trainwreck. In fact it’s magnificent. It makes very little sense but it’s crazy fun from start to finish.

Death by Invitation (1971) starts with a young girl on trial for witchcraft. Then it's the 1970s and we encounter the same people and assume they're destined to relive those events. Weird, unsettling and disorienting. I liked it quite a bit.

Four Times That Night is a Mario Bava movie. It's Rashomon done as a sex comedy. Made in 1968 but not released until 1971 by which time it seemed very tame. It's not much admired even by Bava fans but I enjoyed it. Great 60s Bava visuals.

I'm very fond of Jean Rollin’s late films like Dracula's Fiancee (2002). They have a magical vibe, reminiscent of magic realism with no attempt to explain the magical elements. Once again Rollin creates a whole new mythology. Mesmerising stuff.

Sergio Corbucci's The Slave is a 1962 peplum with a Roman Empire setting. It's about the son of Spartacus. The Romans are definitely the bad guys. Steve Reeves makes a fine hero. Visually impressive and entertaining despite the flawed ending.
