Tubi has become my new "Go-To" place for psychotronic movies, and "SHOCKTOPUS" is on the top of my list. We were thrilled when TUBI offered 2015's "SAMURAI COP 2" for our viewing pleasure. The Riffed version of 1991's "SAMURAI COP" has long been a favorite, and the sequel not only features superb actor Joe Estevez but adds auteur Tommy Wiseau to the cast! #riffed #rifftrax #wetheriffed #authorzachariahsmith #riffing #samuraicop #joeestevez #tommywiseau #action #adventure #actionadventure #cop #cops #copmovie #copmovies #Psychotronic #psychotronicmovie #psychotronicmovies #psychotronicfilm

Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary (1975), the adventures of an American girl in Mexico. A nice girl, except that she seduces men, kills them and drinks their blood. Maybe she's a vampire or maybe she's just eccentric. Weird arty excellent Mexican horror.

Death by Invitation (1971) starts with a young girl on trial for witchcraft. Then it's the 1970s and we encounter the same people and assume they're destined to relive those events. Weird, unsettling and disorienting. I liked it quite a bit.

Legend of the Witches (1970), an odd faux-documentary taking a sympathetic look at witchcraft in the modern world and with re-enactments (possibly quite realistic) of witchcraft rituals, laced with copious nudity. And some vague hippie touches.

Godzilla: Invasion of the Astro-monster (1965): Godzilla and Rodan are sent to Planet X to save its inhabitants from King Ghidorah. This is a space opera and a monster movie. Best things about it - no comic relief, no cute kids, no preachiness.

Psychomania is a 1973 British zombie biker movie. It’s terrible, but kind of great as well. A biker discovers how to come back from the dead. More of a witchcraft or even a satansploitation movie than a zombie movie. Totally nuts but great fun.

The Mephisto Waltz is a 1971 gothic horror movie about a music journalist who is a failed concert pianist. If only he had a better pair of hands! Of course he could always make a pact with the Devil. Nicely decadent. Flawed but enjoyable.

Norman J. Warren's Prey is a weird, disturbing, oddball 1977 British sci-fi horror movie. An alien takes refuge in an isolated farmhouse inhabited by two lesbians. His arrival makes an already tense situation explosive. Fascinating movie.

Krull (1983) is more a sword-and-planet than a sword-and-sorcery film and has a lot in common with Star Wars. It includes every fantasy cliché imaginable but it looks fabulous and has energy, enthusiasm and style. And lots of action. Pure fun.

Four Times That Night is a Mario Bava movie. It's Rashomon done as a sex comedy. Made in 1968 but not released until 1971 by which time it seemed very tame. It's not much admired even by Bava fans but I enjoyed it. Great 60s Bava visuals.

I'd describe A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin (1971) as a proto-giallo and it has psychiatry, madness, decadence and style. Don't worry about the plot, just let Lucio Fulci play with your head. One of his best.

Night of the Devils (1972), based on Aleksey Tolstoy's 1839 story Family of the Vourdalak. A man takes refuge in a remote farm and finds himself in a world of medieval superstition and a stifling atmosphere of fear and suspicion. Great stuff.

Count Dracula’s Great Love (1973), Spanish vampire film starring and written by Paul Naschy. Contrary to the popular critical view this is an excellent, intelligent, emotionally nuanced, clever, provocative, trashy, sleazy take on Dracula.

The Playgirls and the Vampire (1962). A bevy of beautiful showgirls stranded when their bus breaks down, they take shelter in a gothic castle and of course the castle belongs to a vampire. Silly goofy Italian gothic horror fun. You'll needs lots of popcorn.

Beyond the Door (AKA The Devil Within Her 1974) is one of the more notorious Italian Exorcist rip-offs and it rips off Rosemary's Baby as well. It's OK and has some fine moments but there are much better Italian Exorcist rip-offs.

The Cats (I bastardi, 1968) is a dark cynical eurocrime movie about violent psychos with an insane twist ending I can guarantee you won't see coming. It stars Rita Hayworth and Klaus Kinski. Totally nuts but fascinating. Worth seeing.

The Black Cat (1966), a very low-budget adaptation of Poe’s famous story. This is Poe in the world of crazy rock’n’roll music, miniskirts and go-go dancing. It works better than you'd expect. A very dark very gothic very effective horror film.

Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947), last of the Dick Tracy B-movies. Lots of horror and sci-fi elements in this one, plus Boris Karloff as the chief villain. Fast-moving and slightly offbeat. And Ralph Byrd is a fine Dick Tracy. Hugely enjoyable.

The Fat Black Pussycat (1963) is a beat murder mystery about a beatnik psycho serial killer and a cat (an actual feline) that picks up human brain waves. Half-baked psychiatry and half-baked paranormal phenomena adds up to crazy oddball fun.

Star Slammer (AKA Prison Ship) is a 1986 Fred Olen Ray movie so you know it will be crazy goofy fun. A women-in-prison movie set on a prison spaceship but done in good-natured tongue-in-cheek fashion. Fun and silly and exciting and amusing.

Modesty Blaise (1966) is a movie misfire that is still interesting enough to be worth seeing. Nowhere near as good as the novels or comics. All the movie's problems could have been avoided by sacking Joseph Losey as director.

Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion (1972), a women-in-prison movie/female revenge movie of awesome intensity. It's also one of the classics of pinky violence. It has style to burn and touches of surrealism. And it has Meiko Kaji ready to explode.

Norifumi Suzuki's Sex and Fury (1974), a period piece set during the Meiji Restoration, but still very much a pinky violence movie (and a great one). With Reiko Ike, plus Christina Lindberg as an English gambler, gunslinger and spy. Superb.

The Italian-Spanish co-production MURDER MANSION (1972). Three people take refuge in a spooky house. There are rumours of vampires and witches. But is this a gothic horror movie or a giallo? It doesn't matter. It's crazy oddball and fun and looks good.
