🎥 The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye (2011)
Sad that this was made after Lady Jaye was dead. It would have been more interesting with their participation. As it is, this is more like “The Ballad of Genesis (With a Focus on Lady Jaye)”.
(Warning: If, like me, you get motion sickness from unsteady camera, this has a lot of handheld stuff in it.)

When I was a teen in the 90s, I had this VHS tape, a compilation with Wax Trax Records artists - it starts with two KMFDM songs, there's Laibach, Coil, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, and Psychic TV on it. And it's all on YouTube now. This is a wild watch. This got me really more hooked on industrial music - I was already a KMFDM/Coil fan but I hadn't heard a lot from those other bands, and 🤯 There's some stuff in here too I was a little more meh on (Sister Machine Gun, a real odd one), but wow did I watch this a lot as a kid.

Off the top of my head, I can't really think of many/any bands that cover #PsychicTV; but, this particular one is a favorite in my book.
Since the original Dreams Less Sweet[1983] release, I've always been fond of these lyrics:
"When all the numbers swim together and all the shadows settle
When doors forced open shut again a flytrap and a petal
My eyes burn and claws rush in to fill them
And in the morning after the night i fall in love with the light
It is so clear i realize and here at last i have my eyes"

#NowPlaying my favorite Psychic TV LP, 'Towards Thee Infinite Beat' from 1990. This one is some wild acid house, a truly bizarre but unforgettable one from Genesis P (RIP). I like this one so much because it has a little bit of a Coil feel but of course that inevitable Throbbing Gristle feel, too, and it's all wrapped up in this great, trance-y acid house package. LOVE this one.

In the distance there is truth
Which ends like a knife.
The bridge we have laid
will always give us life.
We who cross
on a goat we ride,
full like fruits
In the red sea tide.

37 years ago today, I witnessed #PsychicTV materialize at the #VarietyArtsCenter in downtown LA. I came expecting groovy #hyperdelia, but instead what they (#GenesisPOrridge, #PaulaPOrridge, & #FredGiannelli) served up was my first dislocating dose of honest-to-god #AcidHouse. Tons of samples atop heavy, loud polyrhythms - my ears/head/spirit were ringing well past Easter Sunday.
Also of note: Gen was wearing an oversized #CelebritySkin t-shirt - apparently, he and CS drummer #DonBolles went way back.
This week in Other People's Music we have: TWO different takes on industrial darkness! ONE instrumental power pop act! TEN or more genres crushed into one frenetic EDM album! TWO different references to Psychic TV! and FIVE total acts! All here:
