I am glad to be one of the Google Summer of Code '25 mentors for @fossasia's #PSLab project. I already was a mentor last year. I learned a lot myself and it is great to see students becoming more confident as their projects progress. Mentoring also helped me to increase the amount of contributions to #FLOSS which was limited to an occasional bugfix here or there and my personal hobby projects during the past years. #GSoC

A parcel from @fossasia with the latest version of the Pocket Science Lab and an LED Badge arrived today. 🎉 Did I mention that I am one of the mentors guiding a very talented student who added lots of improvements to the #PSLab app as part of the #GSoC? I also used the #BadgeMagic app for the first time today. I have several neat ideas about what I could do with the PSLab, but unfortunately so little time.

Who had the great idea that playing around with the #pslab device might be a fun vacation project with kids? 🤦

Sometimes, the big question in life is:
"What happens if we combine *all* the pieces?"

Here is #PSLab plus a little #Python script, a proximity #sensor, and a strip of #WS2812 #LEDs. Within a certain range, the LEDs will rotate around by a value depending on the distance.

I can make dem beeps with #PSLab.
