If you read the same word – any word – over and over and over and over and OVER again, it takes on an alien quality. It starts to decohere, to look wrong.
So much is known.
What interests me is that some words have that unsettling Lovecraftian quality to begin with. Like "monthslong" or "paean".
To me, at least, one of these words gains a sort of rhythmic aesthetic, not at all unpleasant, if I repeat it until it ought to lose meaning.
