Trump foolish policies: His trade war with Canada. J’ai finalement beaucoup apprécié cette histoire.
Sous ses airs de dystopie assez douce, The Book of Ivy cache en réalité un récit profondément déchirant. Derrière les barrières, les luttes de pouvoir et les idéaux politiques se trouvent avant tout deux jeunes adultes qui portent un héritage bien trop lourd pour leurs épaules. Être la fille du fondateur ou le fils du président, c’est grandir avec des attentes, des responsabilités et des choix qui ne leur appartiennent pas toujours.
Ce que j’ai particulièrement aimé, c’est que le roman ne cherche pas à opposer simplement deux camps. Au fil des pages, on comprend que chacun pense agir pour le bien commun, mais que ce sont les moyens employés qui interrogent. Ivy évolue énormément : sans renier ses convictions, elle apprend à les confronter à la réalité. Son dilemme moral est, selon moi, le véritable cœur du roman.
La romance est, elle aussi, une très belle réussite. Dans un univers où la méfiance règne, Ivy et Bishop construisent peu à peu une relation basée sur le respect, l’écoute et la confiance. Leurs moments passés seuls créent une véritable bulle hors du temps, où la dystopie semble disparaître quelques instants. C’est doux, sincère et terriblement touchant.
Impossible de ne pas s’attacher à Bishop. C’est un personnage profondément bienveillant : calme, patient, attentif et respectueux. Il ne cherche jamais à imposer ses idées à Ivy ; au contraire, il l’encourage à réfléchir par elle-même. J’ai également apprécié que lui comme Ivy aspirent à un avenir différent de celui imaginé par leurs parents, preuve qu’ils souhaitent construire leur propre vision du monde plutôt que de reproduire les erreurs du passé.
La plume d’Amy Engel est efficace, le rythme reste régulier tout au long du roman et, même si certains événements se devinent, quelques rebondissements viennent renforcer l’intensité de cette histoire. La fin est particulièrement poignante et donne immédiatement envie de découvrir la suite.

Je pense qu’il n’y a rien qui ne puisse pas être changé, si on le désire suffisamment.
c’est facile de parler de ce qui est juste quand les sacrifices à consentir pour une cause sont abstraits…
On ne peut pas légiférer sur l’amour point l’amour dépasse les graphiques , les diagrammes et les intérêts communs. L’amour, c’est brouillon, c’est compliqué, et c’est une erreur de refuser sa magie aléatoire.
Lorsqu’on est conscient d’être manipulé , mais que ça fonctionne, peut on encore appeler ça de la manipulation ?
