Hi, dear friends! I'm back from vacation at #ProtospielMichigan near Detroit. It was an awesome convention where I played so many amazing games, and one of them was my own.
I played my retro-futuristic demolition derby tabletop game "Vroom / Zoom / Boom" and it was a hit.
"My favorite game of the convention hands-down." said one player. Every time I demoed it, I took voluminous notes about how to make it better.

If you have any interest in #GameDesign, Protospiels are a real treat. And a $50 price tag for a whole weekend game pass is very reasonable. For non-designers, it's an even better deal: $15 to play GAMES FROM THE FUTURE.

Finished up the evening with Eli's masterwork party game "Story Board". Players simultaneously generate silent movies using a limited hand of title boards, shared props. Players make the movie as a sequence of pictures ON THEIR PHONE and then present it to the group. Brilliant!

"Art Mart" by Eli Edwardson is a fun bluffing game about appraising and buying art.

Another chance to play my "Hell's Kitchen" game. Found an overpowered card which donated play. I need to continue testing all the various combo-wombos, and refining the rules.

Then I played "The Writing of the Gods, part 1" based on the short story by Jorge Luis Borges. I'm not familiar with that story, but enjoyed the game anyway. It's a tense solitaire tile-laying game that evoked feelings of Knizia's Ra and solitaire dominoes. (But much better than dominoes!) Play tiles from your hand, compelled to follow suit or color, in order to get 20 combos. In addition, must simultaneously work on 2 minigames: arrange 8 colored sun tiles and discard tiles. You lose by running out of tiles or losing civilization to the sandy wastes. I felt euphoria and relief upon winning!

Back from Protospiel Indy this past weekend. I did not get a chance to get my prototype to the table but I played a bunch of other amazing games, and they are living rent-free in my head, and I want to play again!
While not playing my game, I did get it out and noodle on it a while and may have solved a sticky problem I had. I'll definitely get it to the table at Protospiel Michigan!
