Unfortunately, in Australia, such a proactive approach seems far from reality. Despite the ongoing housing crisis and the growing strain on local communities, our governments continue to prioritise short-term profits over long-term sustainability. The idea of limiting tourism or curbing the spread of holiday rentals to secure homes for Australians would likely be dismissed as too radical. It’s a shame we don’t see more logic and foresight in addressing these critical issues.
