  1. I figured out something new with the gunblade: I don't actually need the safety pins to be metal nails. A piece of ABS filament is enough. It's not as stiff, but it prevents the thing from falling apart or out of position, at least in sword form. Hmm. I will think about this. Maybe this opens up new options so I can have a more elegant lock after all. (Either way, this is good, because nails are usually forbidden at cons.)

  2. The gamepad is charging for Lightning Returns later, the 3D printer is printing a part for the portal gun and I am making a paper mock-up for Faith's runner bag because I have exactly the amount of material I need which is nice because no leftovers of weird plastic material but also stressful because all mistakes will be visible.

  5. I printed the first part for the Portal Gun yesterday! I used the 1 mm nozzle because speeeed and it looks surprisingly good. There are two spots with random holes in the print though. Both are where Cura wanted to place the z seam, so I guess that's related. r/fixMyPrint had no idea so far, so today I am experimenting with z seam placement. I'll just cover the holes with tape and paint though. No need to waste 60 grams of PLA to fix a minor defect on the inside.
