Heyy, long time no see !
This is a prop concept for #octasolis project. A little device for electronic signature !

All week I've been designing electronic tea light candle holders for a gothic photoshoot I'm putting together. I wasn't able to find the props I wanted so I am making them myself. Each candle holder in the photoshoot will be unique. So far I've been cautiously experimenting with sidewall shape. I've got 22 more tea lights so there are plenty more opportunities to learn and try new ideas yet.

It's a pointed scene, but I can't concentrate because I keep looking at the huge carpet behind Zhi Dai. It looks like it's actually got a pile instead of being POD fabric. Oth the pattern is not in relief. My best guess is that it's a 'Wilton rug' - ie a machine bound piece in synthetics. Needless to say I want one. Let me lose at the prop magasines at Heng Dian World Studios and I'll definitely try to stuff it in my handbag.

A frame tents - not just for Vikings! (Not a hard design to come up with - the hard part is hauling around an ungodly amount of lumber while travelling. Ask me how I know...) I love the decorations, though - if I still was active in the SCA I'd totally st... _use it as an inspiration_.

Fang Doubing is missing out when he refuses to marry the princess. Zhaoling is badass enough to steal that red beaker thingy from Saintress Jiao - she'd be an incredibly good jianghu wife.

I'm not so sure about those circular saw antennae, but overall that's a good design for a tank. The shape means it's near impossible to tilt over, and the dome means incomming force "slides off". I wonder if it has actual equivalents in Chinese history? If this was Western fiction I'd say someone's been playing too much rpg, but here there's a 50 - 50 chance.

A+ for attention to detail to the props and costuming departments! That whistle is so much in line with Di Feisheng's style it hurts! Gold, bold, ornamental, and just sliiightly over the top.
I wonder how many servants he killed before they got that he didn't want a bird whistle, but a whistle shaped like a bird?

Paper, documents, and bookbinds in C-dramas are often just as awesome as the embroideries! This is a list the Eeevil Spy has made of [no spoilers!], and as a self-respecting villain of style he's written it on high quality paper with gold leaf in the pulp. A+!

That flute... is it on purpose it looks like an asparagus*, or were the props design appartment just that innocent? (Not possible, you say? Sweden is quite famous for being open on those subjects, and there's still grown men here who can't understand why a file shouldn't be named p+zero(as in the number)+rn.) It's impossible for me to say, and that thing deflates every scene I see it in.

Have long been obsessed with prop designer Manning Krull and his #Halloween and Mardi Gras projects. This year, his theme is Monster Prom, with a band that includes a Frankenstein keytarist, alien drummer and demon singer. He made all this with foam core and tape! (You should see what he can do with #papermaché - it's unreal!)

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! This is on par with the doctor using a potato peeler in Star Trek VOY! Evil sect underlings are told to clean the latest... hm, I guess we can call him an acolyte... inside out, and the first thing they reach for is a 'rug whip'*. No, we're never shown _how_ they're using it, but he's clean in the next scene.
(*I have no idea what it's called in English, but you whap rugs with that flat end to get rid of dust)

It may seem like "duh!", but for someone who grew up with Hollywood's inability to follow through on their own research C-drama is a relief! People read the books the right way, the artwork is based on Chinese art, and characters and texts are actually legible. It's rarely 100% historically correct, but people know their stuff and how to bend it for coolness.
(Would C-dramaland be better at Viking Age epics? See toot below.)
