So here's where I explain what tension I was originally talking about. I have two big projects I'm excited to work on, once the groundwork is laid. One of them is a package manager/software build system called #Layover, which is reasonably but irreverently summarizable as "imagine if Nix was good." Its fundamental premise is treating immutable directories of data as a logical datatype, and supporting both pure and impure operations on these directories (where the pure ones are incentivized by cacheability, remote build compatibility, etc). Its intention is to be able to work across multiple platforms, using whatever platform-specific isolation tech is available for build sandboxing.

The other tech is the #MercuryMicrokernel, which is far less formed in design right now, but will radically reject POSIX compliance in favor of high-performance async IPC and a simplified FS design that omits ownership and permission data in favor of Plan9-ish "views" and #Prone-like COW semantics.

I'd like these to get along.

Dave nodded and smiled.

"Hmmm…" Beth said. "I believe the first one, that you threw up on your dentist. I mean, the projectile vomit description was over top. But you've always been prone to exaggeration."

"Agreed. What about the second one?" Tim asked. "You think he really joined the 'mile deep' club and had sex on the Eurostar while it was in the tunnel?"

"Could be, but that's only about 15 minutes. Not as much of a brag as you think, old man!" Beth laughed. "I vote dancing in the video is a lie."

"I think the tunnel is a lie. Can't see Uncle Dave doing it in a toilet on a train!" Tim replied.

"You're both wrong! I'd never vomit on a dentist. That would be so rude!"

"Really? OK, let's find Bonnie Tyler. Show us your young dancing self!"

Adopted into a minister's home, cared for in many ways, her biological past never allowed to be a part of her story--her mother had laughed at a picture of an ancestor's Cherokee ceremonial dress--her aged voice wavered over the lyrics of the gospel hymn, "Prone to wander, God, I feel it, #prone to leave the God I love," she feels tears well. Does she know herself? How is she to know God? God was always about fitting in. Sometimes, He was joy but just as often brutal displeasure. #mastoprompt

Today a steel frame arrived. Nothing too exotic, just #7anna #OctaneOne Kode. This time made in Taiwan. The #Prone was made in Poland, which basically means manufactured in China and finished (riveted and painted) in Poland.

Really cool fish scale glitter paint with pink, blue, golden and silver chips. I hope, my wife will love this bike, it'll be first new bike since 2005.

i guess i'll do an #introduction. i'm a #statistics phd candidate at #cornell. i work on non-parametric #deconvolution (aspirational hashtag) theory and some #FunctionalData non-parametric regression stuff too (currently with #astronomy applications; spectroscopy, photometric redshift estimation, etc).

i'm learning #persian (سلام! خوبی؟) and #running when i'm not doing stats or #lying #prone on the #floor in #despair
