不怕找零、不用算匯率,外國遊客在泰國都改用行動支付?
關鍵評論網 ASEAN:Indochina 2026-02-03 13:38:00 CST

Also, in regards to cross-border payments via QR like #DuitNow and #PromptPay ; I know scanning their (merchant) QR for payments work - as mentioned, I’ve only been using #TnG eWallet for this bcos as far as I’m aware, their rates are more competitive than my bank’s (#Maybank). #ShopeePay ‘s doesn’t seem to work, as far as I can tell.
However these have only worked in instances where I’m the one scanning their QR - in one of the (7E) vending machines I’ve seen in #Thailand that supports PromptPay, whereby they scan your QR (instead of the other way around), it’s not worked with my TnG eWallet QR - tho I reckon it’s bcos only the scanning part of TnG is DuitNow-compatible, while the QR it provides ‘to be scanned’, is not.
Quite a headache lol - I imagine it might work if I use my Maybank QR code instead? tho I’ve not tried. Maybank’s conversion rate is pretty shit tho. Prior to my travel, I’ve found and ranked the best currency conversion rate (for THB) is, from best to worst: My local money changer (bizarre, right?) > Wise > TnG eWallet > Maybank.
I might test/investigate this further, later. If the ‘being scanned’ part of the cross-border QR payment method works with my bank’s QR - cool. If that too does not work, then this cross-border QR payment thing’s insufficient (i.e. if it only works when we’re the one scanning the merchant’s QR). -

Kinda wild that Thai 7E.. 1) does not accept their national #PromptPay, only #AliPay, and 2) only accepts card payments for purchases over 200 THB. That’s a lil bizarre cos I make cents-worth payments using #Apple Pay (i.e. #VISA) all the time, back at home haha.
Also, I’ve yet to successfully make AliPay payments using #TnG eWallet, only PromptPay payments and even then, there have been some misses - presumably bcos these shops were using personal PromptPay QRs, not the supported merchants’ QR. -

After considering both Indonesia and #Thailand for our upcoming trip in Sept, my wife and I have chosen #Phuket. We're prolly gonna do the same thing we did with our last trip to Osaka and not get cash, only adding our money to #Wise and using #ApplePay with it when possible, and cash withdrawn from our Wise card at an ATM in cash-only stores, but god it's such a shame that Wise does not support #DuitNow QR payments. They really should though >:(
That being said, Wise (at least somewhat) supports QR payments to Singapore's #PayNow - and PayNow is compatible with DuitNow and some of the other participating QR payment systems including Thai's #PromptPay. I wonder if that means you could make QR payments from Wise to PromptPay QR codes... I doubt it lmao.
