0️⃣ I’m starting my 13th year teaching high school math and physics at a K-12 Waldorf school in #WesternMA. I’m also involved in pedagogical administration, and coordinated our high school through the covid years.

1️⃣ This year I’m teaching Algebra II and Precalc year-long courses and month-long intensive seminars in Projective Geometry and an intro to Calculus.

2️⃣ Pies>Cakes>Donuts. Overdosed on donuts after grad school talks. Also have been gluten free for ten years and GF donuts are pretty meh.

3️⃣ Outside of work I love walking my senior Labradoodle, hanging with my family and cohousing friends, going to cafes, cooking, a little gardening.

This week will be fun and frivolous in the best kind of way, dear peeps who love math and teaching! We’re going to do two things. We’re going to play “Some truths and maybe a lie?” and also you’ll share a photograph from your phone that brings you joy -- and explain why.

In your post:
1. Write down three facts about yourself, but one, two, or all three can be lies!
2. Share your photo and explain why it brings you joy.
3. Tag your post with #prompt3 and #ClassroomMath

Of course the whole point of this is to get people talking! So after you post, look around at other posts with the #prompt3 hashtag and make a guess! Are any of them lies? All of them? Bonus fake points if you start talking with someone you’ve never talked to.

As always, to practice using mathstodon, two challenges. First, find a new hashtag based on one of your interests that people are posting with (for example, #knitting) and “follow it” so it shows up in your timeline. Then share it with the #ClassroomMath community in case others are interested.

For fun outside the classroom, I love to run on trails, climb (indoor and outside), do yoga, watch movies and play board games with my family, read all the things, and go to music festivals with friends. I've got a kiddo starting 10th grade so I'm also trying to maximize time together before he grows all the way up.

1. I am a math curriculum specialist and instructional coach in central California. Currently working with a group of teachers in second year implementing #btc and I am loving the #roughdraftthinking we share around this practice.

2.it obviously depends on the type of each. But given my favorites: pie>cake>donuts
Given my least favorites:
Pie>donuts>cake.

3. Love spending time with family, reading, playing cards and board games, fantasy football, walking my goldendoodle, being at the ocean, and learning new things.

I’m Paige, I teach in Milwaukee, WI. It will be my second year at my current school, and I love it. I’m the department chair, and this year I’m teacher IM1, IM2, and IM 2/3 (we do integrated math). It’s been a while since I’ve taught freshmen, so I’m excited for the challenge!

For me, it’s definitely donuts> cake > pie. And donuts are wayyy above cake, but both donuts and cake are far above pie (unless it’s a peanut butter chocolate pie 😍)
