I'm doing a beginner TinyTapeout for learning and I'm still struggling to come up with a good idea for my tile. I'm trying to use the Wokwi tool, but I am finding it rather clunky. I might be better off with Verilog, but I haven't used it in years. Some ideas I have had are a digital timer, a quadrature decoder or, as a retro project, a generic C64 DMA controller (I can make this work with the I/O available). So many ideas!

Thinking about making a new dashboard/card for my HomeAssistant that shows the planes I might be hearing at the moment, flying over our house, based on my ADSB receiver data.

I've recent discovered this and it makes me a little giddy. #rust #robots #projectideas https://crates.io/crates/ros-core-rs

Wanna make one of these. I looked up how to bend a key and it said use a blowtorch and like heat resistant gloves and a vice....
Could I just use a gas stove and two pair of pliers?
Has anyone done this before?

So… looking around on the #RetroTech tag on mastodon.social… @noodlejs posted this handy site regarding floppy interfacing:
(in https://hachyderm.io/@noodlejs/111512465619483319)
Handy little reference… I'm tempted to get the FPGA board out actually.

I've been reading about #retro #joystick DE-9 (DB9) interfaces today. I completely forgot the CD32 needed to extend it with a clever, but differently clever bit handshake protocol compared to the #megadrive (One of the control pins on the Sega is actually hardwired as supplying power from the Amiga). http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/DE-9_Joystick #projectideas

Putting this here for future reference… but earlier I mentioned that I had a couple of floppy drives laying around I wanted to make better use of.
Here is a possible idea: this project is more a demo, but it shows an #ATMega128 #AVR #microcontroller connected to a 16-bit #ISA bus video card.
http://tinyvga.com/avr-isa-vga
In the junk drawer, I uncovered a 16-bit ISA floppy/IDE controller. The thinking:
- interface the ISA drive controller to a USB 2.0-enabled microcontroller (possibly ATMega32U4 or STM32F4)
- develop a firmware that detects the drives and exposes them as mass-storage devices over USB
- enclose in a case with 5V/12V PSU, removable drive dock for IDE drive. -

Has anyone already built a battery operated USB HID to Bluetooth adapter?
If not, what are y'all waiting for? I want to use my Sculpt keyboard over BT!

CW: Yet another project idea
A telegram chat to mastodon sync for artists. So whenever they toot a specific hashtag it lands in their telegram group and/or every telegram chat message will be tooted to their mastodon.
Tell me if that already exists. ^^``
