Ich sollte einen neuen Sticker designen:
"Nett hier. Aber waren Sie schon mal in Ankh-Morpork?"Wenn ich Zeit und Inspiration finde, folgt er in diesem Thread 🧵

App that runs on Raspberry Pi with a cam that recognizes specific cats and controls a Nerf Super Soaker to deter the target with water.
Reason: a cat not belonging to this neighborhood

Invention idea: array of microphones on the outside of the house connected to speakers on the inside of my office, which work like noise cancelling headphones but with spatial sound... enhanced neighborhood awareness, bringing the sound of everything outside inside when the windows are shut ;-)

Discworld fans know the irregular clock in Lord Vetinari's waiting room.
I just found out that there are building instructions out there how to build such a clock yourself - the source code is here https://github.com/akafugu/vetinari_clockBut it made me think: why don't we have a kernel patch that does this? Anyway I'm now reading up on the /dev/rtc class, NTP and PTP, wondering what would be funnier to do.

Wood statue/sculpture from any 3D model using rotating base with angle readout plugged to Blender, which renders the object realtime as an outline using a projector directly on the trunk, to guide the wood work.

Remember the days of the original Stripe JS? Where you could drop a script on your site to embed a secure payment form - data flowed to Stripe's servers rather than your own and helped ensure rapid PCI compliance?
What if I did the same with authentication?
Drop a script on your page to embed a secure login/registration form. Passwords flow to my server and you get back a signed token representing the user. Like OpenID Connect / OAuth but much simpler to implement.

@adh @IvyMike really what we need for the phone apps is a little bluetooth or usb-c adapter to fit in guts of an original HP48 as a keyboard controller so we can use its lovely keyboard to control the emulator on our modern device. #HP48 #Emulator #ProjectIdea

This week we are working on #RegulatedProducts #Inflight applications, FSA #codes #Registry, #AgoraCatalog #InfastructureUpgrades and discovery phases on a number of new client projects. If you want to know more or have an interesting #ProjectIdea we’d love to talk

#DIY #Electronics #ProjectIdea - Finding the source of mechanical vibrations using multiple piezo transducers and live FFT.
I found this a cheap 4-channel ADC board around PCF8591. It's only 8 bit, which should not be a problem (I don't care about reproduction of sound), but it's based on I²C, and I haven't yet found benchmarks of sampling rate anywhere.
All the datasheet says: "The maximum A/D conversion rate is given by the actual speed of the I²C-bus".

I would save >= 22,000 work hours/yr if my terminal assigned each directory a color and colored my terminal tabs accordingly.
I think maybe the Kitty terminal emulator could be made to do this with a custom #python "kitten".
Feel free to steal this #projectidea and use to become non-rich and non-famous before I get around to it.

#projectidea Browser addon that automatically removes "h=400&w=600&q=90" and similar stuff from the URL when you choose "Save Image As". Very useful for science publications and news portals who just let their page do the shrinking of high quality stock images

@schratze i was thinking for a while about a sort of city builder game, where the city builds itself and you just give pre-determine an ideology and perhaps some technological choices.
no idea how feasable that is, of course 😅.

i'm kicking around the idea of building something like Lotus Improv (not a clone really, more just like going with the general idea of an any-dimensional spreadsheet and see where it takes me).
also i kinda wanted to learn Rust for a whole wile now, and this seems like a nice project.
i was wondering what gui-toolkit i'd wanna use. i was thinking Qt just because i tend to use KDE these days. i don't really have toolkit experience and they scare me a bit.

#projectIdea: using #Tox (or a similar protocol) as a distributed VPN. basically use truncated Tox IDs in some unused IPv6 address space and use it to tunnel IP packets through it.
you would only have connection to the nodes you added, but with them you have just a plain, clean IP connection without having to bother with NAT and other tampering and buggery.
would probably be pretty good for playing LAN games over the internet and stuff like that 🤔.
-
#projectIdea: getting into CRMs and liberate them from salespeople. i'm thinking of some relationship-focussed system to suggest and keep track of projects to do together. maybe that's what's needed to keep in touch with people 🤔.
needless to say open source and p2p and all that…

#ProjectIdea: website to check the relative "weights" (in terms of MB to download) for websites and apps.
Can take 2 at a time, and display them with app icons/favicons on a weighing balance, with the heavier one tipped down ⚖️
Inspiration: just realised the #Gmail webapp takes more MBs to load than #Thunderbird! :thunderbird: 😮
