CW: Programming Tool Satisfaction Survey
I recently realized that as a programmer, I know very little about how other people approach programming, and many people seem to be approaching it in radically different ways. For this reason, I came up with this survey.
It's not intended for statistic summary (anyone's free to do this, but I'm more interested in learning particular stories and descriptive knowledge).
It also isn't time-bound. You can respond after a month, a year or a decade (if the world still exists), and your answer - if honest - will still be valuable.
There is also no such thing as a final answer - you can always go back to your original answers and change your mind (preferably by writing new posts with updates, rather than by editing existing ones).
To take a part in the survey, just reply to this toot with answers to the following questions, preferably quoting the questions in your answer:
1. What are the main tools that you use in your programming work? Are you satisfied with those tools?
2. What are the best (or most interesting) programming tools that you have been using yourself or saw others using? If you don't use them for your work, why not?
3. What are some features that you find missing from your tools and you think would increase the joy of using the tools?
You can reply in as many messages as you like. If you're working on some programming tools yourself, don't hesitate to include the links.
Also please boost for reach.
