  2. Our program leads are working together to be more transparent, coordinate more effectively, and build helpful structures that support our goals. It's still early days, but we're committed to learning in the open. More in our latest update: doi.org/10.64000/4s2ee-wkr84 #programmanagement #metadatamatters #scholcomms #scholarlypublishing

  3. Been doing some program stuff and finding decent results with some basic prompts for things like gathering info from different compliance frameworks and doing some basic cross walking. Keeping it to ChatGPT so far.

I need to move this to a better workflow. Capture and save prompt and results. #GRC #ProgramManagement #ISMS

  4. Being a technical program manager means that sometimes you need to step in and organize the software delivery model, even if this is outside your official job description.

  5. Program milestones that aren't integration milestones are mostly theatre. #ProgramManagement

  6. I die a bit inside everytime I am part of a discussion where implementing controls to meet an external framework like NISt, CiS, FedRAMP etc etc ... is framed as "we do this, and then we are done". Like, no. Its a continual thing. you dont do this once, you need to maintain and run this. I blame this on the fact that when you are in "Software Engineering Org" driven companies, they force everyone to plan and operate like they are building features. Build it, deploy it, move the fuck on. No.. No.. No.

  8. What better way to celebrate #IndependentBookstoreDay than to buy a copy of "#ProgramManagement for #OpenSource Projects" from your favorite local bookstore? If they don't have it, you can get free shipping this weekend from Bookshop.org. While you're there, pick up another armful of books for your to-read pile. Support authors, small businesses, and your dragon-like book hoard all at once!

  9. What term do you typically use to describe project/program kickoff activities?

  10. I like the DACI acronym better. Feels like it is a word with less other meanings. Driver, Approver, Contributors, Informed. #DACI #ProgramManagement

  11. In lean times especially, any effort needs to be bundled into a project or initiative, and it needs to be tracked with visibility. Else it cannot be quantified with its impact. #ProgramManagement #ProjectManagement #Accountability

  12. Some thoughts triggered by martinfowler.com/articles/prog:

    - "product-mode company" is clearer than "tech company"
    - #Product vs #Project is a "pick your poison" issue
    - The largest risk to any program is probably integration
    - Anticipate #dependencies by studying historical #blockers.
    - #IntegrationTests and milestones are more trustworthy than status reports.
    - What is an effective virtual equivalent to a physical #ProgramWall? Honestly, I don't know.

  13. "Do I trust my project managers?" is a less reliable system than "Do I trust my integrated tests?"

  14. I suspect optimising for full utilization is the root of most problems with bad #ProgramManagement

  15. A thing I think I'm seeing is that #ProductManagement has been so poorly practiced that #design #ProgramManagers have had to learn the basics of the role (discovery, requirements, roadmap, prioritization, backlog management), which means that
    a) they're no longer doing the core work of #ProgramManagement
    b) as product managers learn their role, they'll bump up against DPMs.
Program Managers may resist a focus on core program management, as it could feel like a loss of influence.

  16. Struggling through this #agile training. I wish I could focus longer than 45 seconds at a time but this is the driest content I’ve ever sat through. #ProgramManagement #ProductManagement

    Hello! I'm Bryan! I've been in #infosec for nearly 20 years now. I am a #twitchstreamer and co-host of the #brakesec #podcast for over 8 years.
