'Disegno' means mostly 'drawing' (with some exceptions using it closer to its original Latin meaning mentioned in the article above).
However, rethinking on my #drawing classes, most drawing techniques where described through the word 'projection': orthogonal projection, isometric projection, perspective projection.
'#Disegno' can in that sense be described as 'l'arte del #progettare' ('the art of projecting'), meaning that is always an approximation of reality and never the whole reality.
