@snowpheonix I know from my own experience what the phrase means in the #British context - which is the relevant one, in this case. It tends not to mean #doctors, you're right about that - but usually it means #nurses or other #professions allied to #medicine, such as #occupational #therapists. It DOESN'T mean #insurance #companies.

There remains a significant but falling premium for UK #graduates, in part be due to access to the #professions whose degree requirements remain pretty robust.
However, its also worth noting that non-degree employment seems to be shifting into high(er) skills, albeit at a gradual rate (replacing 'over-qualified' graduates?).
Does a slow shift to highly skilled non-degree holders indicate the success of #apprenticeships?

#Employers increasingly realise that #workingfromhome & #hybridworking are valued by potential applicants for jobs & this is now reflected in the frequency that such terms appear in job adverts.
Sarah O'Connor (FT) then draws an interesting conclusion: its those #professions where #WFH is not really feasible that seem to have become most militant about pay & conditions;
those #workers able to adopt hybrid working see it as an extra non-monetary benefit & so are less militant on #wages (?)

Research on the US labour market by the Brookings Institute suggests that since the #pandemic, many #workers having re-evaluated their #worklifebalance are starting to demand that employers fit round the staff's needs not the other way round....
How far does this shift reach?
