If you like Philadelphia Soul (i.e. soul released on the Philadelphia International Label, primarily in the 1970s), and you are in Lancaster tonight then drop into the Stonewell Tap (Church St. Lancaster UK) for an evening pf Philly Soul, all spun on vintage vinyl... there's also some great artisan beers to drink while you soaking up the sounds.
#ProfDJ will be kicking off four hours of the best of Philly at around 8.30.

aha.... big news, vinyl junkies.
WH Smith's is going to be stocking vinyl releases again.
Not that they'll be stocking anything controversial I'm sure, but its all part of the growing resurgence of vinyl as the way to (best) listen to music...
Of course, in this house - home to over 5,000 LPs & 1,500 12" singles - this is merely an interesting confirmation of what I & my fellow vinyl junkies knew already.... you can't beat vinyl!

Demand for #vinylrecords has grown for the 16th year in a row, with over 6.5mn units sold in 2023.
Once you include second-hand records (take a look at Disogs to see what's on offer, if you haven't a local 2/h record store), and I think we can safely say assertions that vinyl was dead some years ago were completely wrong.
Speaking as someone with over 5,000 LPs & 1,000+ 12' singles #ProfDJ is not surprised that vinyl continues to appeal.
Spin those tunes!

There'll be TRex, Labelle, Ace, Mott the Hoople, David Bowie & loads of more sounds from a decade that produced so much iconic music that three & half hours hardly seems to be able to it justice.
