"#ProducedWater in the Permian Basin is so saline it can leave the land barren for years when spilled. It can also contain radium 226 and 228 and volatile organic compounds including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX).
Currently, produced water is either disposed of in injection wells or reused within the oil and gas industry to frack other wells. With disposal capacity strained, the industry is eager to find alternatives."

Besides the ground heaving and sinking, the #ProducedWater contains fracking chemicals that are proprietary (so you don't know what to test for) and not good for you.
"Some researchers worry that wastewater might end up contaminating scarce drinking-water supplies.
Between five and six barrels of water are produced, on average, for every barrel of oil. To dispose of it, they inject billions of barrels of putrid wastewater into underground disposal wells."

Old oil wells are burping up toxic brine.
"In the oil fields north of Fort Stockton, #Texas, a large leak discovered at the beginning of December has joined a growing list of aging oil and gas wells in the area that have sat quietly for decades only to reawaken and spew toxic water."
