If you hadn't gathered, we are on the #IsleofMan for a few days. As well as cracking geology (check out the folds in the picture) birdlife (choughs!) and adventures with #kippers we had a brilliant day's cycling. For the evening's entertainment we managed to blag two of the last tickets to see the #Proclaimers in the magnificent Art Deco Villa Marina Royal Hall. A great day indeed!

I love it when a tv show or a movie makes me aware of a great song that I had never heard before. This time “We Are Lady Parts” did it with The Proclaimers’ song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. Such a banger!

When working on my bachelor thesis in computer science, I come over the song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" [1] from the #TheProclaimers . There was a problem with the source code readability predictor from Scalabrino et al. [2] for #Java source code. 🤔 Can you guess the relation between the two?

@fortyseven one time I threw a pants themed party, and got members of the band “pants pants pants” to come to the party.
I know that sounds like a lie, but it is true. We were kind of friends with pants pants pants and saw them at the bottom of the hill twice. Once they opened for Matt and Kim and another time for the proclaimers.

the debut performance of the #Proclaimers in 1987 - they have travelled "down South" to Northeast England (#Newcastle) to perform on "The Tube", a "yoof" music show for Channel 4 made by Tyne Tees Television.
They do quite a good job given the City Road studios (now demolished) were made for news/entertainment shows and the sound was never that good from them..
Paula Yates inadvertantly proves the point made in their lyrics by mispronouncing Auchtermuchty 😆
