Submissions limited to a timeframe of 18 days and which must be limited to 1000 words, or around 3 to 3.5 A4 pages. This smells of a government (not OAIC) stitch up, quite like the way the Social Media Minimum Age Bill was passed at the end of parliament back in 2024.
If it walks, sounds and looks like a duck....
EFA will be making a "concise" submission. There are some good features in the Bill, but a lot has been left out or otherwise deliberately diluted. The Bill requires consumer/citizen friendly calibration and unquestionably is tied to the Albanese government's fast track AI strategy.
