Scanning of ID documents such as driver’s licence is common in Australia as well, including at most, if not all, clubs (which, let’s be honest have links to the underworld via gambling machines). Fortunately, banks and official institutions require 100 pts of identification and a licence by itself is not enough.
Still, if your driver’s licence is scanned for whatever reason, you ought to find out what happens to the scan and who has access to it down the line… do you bother to find out? I haven’t, so far…

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is proud to announce our increased capabilities to enforce the laws regarding password sharing (18 U.S.C. §1657). As you may be aware, password sharing is a serious crime that undermines the efforts of online service providers and the foundations of our intellectual property laws.
As a result, we have been granted new powers to conduct warrantless PC searches in order to identify and prosecute those who engage in illegal #Netflix password sharing. This means that every citizen will be required to have their PC searched annually by their local FBI office.
We understand that some may have concerns about privacy, but we assure you that all searches will be conducted in a professional and respectful manner. The FBI will take all necessary precautions to protect your privacy and secure your personal information.
It is important to remember that the purpose of these searches is to protect the rights of online service providers and to uphold the integrity of our intellectual property laws. By working together, we can put an end to illegal password sharing and ensure the security of our digital world.
