Europe doesn't have a good solution yet about how to condition the payment of public funds to industry (like startups) to ethical behaviour (like building #opensource, #privacy-preserving, or decentralised tech), says @alexandrageese.

@parismarx arguing that #DigitalSovereignty should not be about European companies selling more stuff to #Brazil or countries in #Africa, but about how can we jointly build new #technology in the public interest?

He's also making a strong point in favour of blocking digital services that do not abide by local rules, citing #Brazil as positive example. Points also at federated social media as an important approach to take into consideration local laws.
