I just tried the Modrinth App again, and it’s way better than last time I tried. My go-to has been PrismLauncher, but either I missed some feature or switching mc version with mods isn’t trivial.

I was wondering how to sync minecraft instances across devices since Nextcloud is absolutely not up to the task. Then someone mentioned syncthing and I switched to it yesterday and it is absolutely fabulous.

I remember trying out syncthing decades ago and dismissing it in favour of dropbox for my use-case back then. Yeah, different use-case, I'm still using nextcloud for other tasks, but syncthing has definitely improved a lot.

It's bizarre how #Syncthing just works, over the internet, without any fiddling around - which means it's 'normie' friendly lol. The only thing required then, besides installing the app which is super easy, is just to figure out how it works. Genuinely surprised I've not hopped on it sooner. I'm happily playing #Minecraft away from home, with my (Minecraft) instances (from #PrismLauncher) perfectly synced.

Si votre Prism Launcher semble tout cassé avec un message bizarre du genre "List update failed: One or more substask failed", arrêtez d'utiliser la version Flatpak, elle est toute pétée.
La version AppImage marche très bien.

- Нужная Java скачивается теперь сама.
(раньше, моим друзьям на винде приходилось искать её самостоятельно в интернете, что было не быстро. :blobcatsad:)
- Возможность установить более оптимизированную Java. (там оказывается разные бывают, жесть. :blobcatchewwire:)
- Локальный менеджер скинов.
- Больше фильтров поиска в каталоге модов.

I think it's a funny meme that the #JunkStore got removed from #Steam as soon as they went live xD

As the #PrismLauncher's creator said; Steam does not generally allow launchers to be published on Steam unless it's arcade/retro - point being, eventhough they might own the launcher, they certainly don't own the rights to distribute the games/launchers that come with it.

#Valve doesn't think this is a good idea and obviously, they're right. It makes perfect sense, lol. Also in Junk Store's case, no love is lost for me for a #FOSS turned Proprietary app to poof away when you have other better FOSS alternatives (i.e. launchers) to turn to.

@spots1000 I don't have much to offer, but I think #PrismLauncher has a collection of mods to make #Minecraft playable on the #SteamDeck called DeckyCraft. I've used it for a few hours with my kids and found the experience tolerable (I'm bad at FPS games with analog sticks).

shout out to fabulously optimized, one of the best open source (!) modpacks for minecraft that actually makes playing the game a breeze on steam deck out of the box because it uses controlify

@schenklklopfer @thefeiter Für den Client #PrismLauncher benutzen und dann dort das Modpack von Curseforge herunterladen. 😉 In MultiMC sollte das auch gehen, aber keine Garantie das da noch die Curseforge Anbindung klappt.

Als Server läuft das in einem Docker Container mit Image "itzg/minecraft-server". Bei Bedarf kann ich dir da ein docker-compose schicken.

I’ve been playing #Minecraft with my daughter on the Switch, and they did a great job with the port. This prompted me setting up a Java server again, but you can’t connect to private servers (Bedrock or Java) from consoles (lame).

I’ve got a #SteamDeck and got #PrismLauncher installed. Community controller layouts were too different from the Switch controls I’ve gotten used to. So…

Some qt6 update broke #prismlauncher on arch so I have to use the qt5 version.

Microsoft might have taken action on PolyMC?

Or one of the people that was ousted by the fashy/transphobic/queerphobic/anti-left person who hijacked PolyMC still had the Microsoft account associated with the consent issuing or identification process used by the launcher?

(I'm very much not a Microsoft services person, so this speculation is likely bollocks, but I'd be interested to know if that's how third party Microsoft login permissions work.)

Either way, my accounts have been logged out and, checking there are no auth tokens active on either per https://account.live.com/consent.

It can't have just timed out, as I last used it with online auth last night - was playing MC when the furore went down.
