Nintendo has issued a warning today for people not to use the Pretendo Network as it may pose unexpected security risks.

This isn't really a big deal, but I'm sharing it over here to point out a few things since people seem to be a bit concerned whether this post will affect @pretendo or not.

• We believe this is from some users contacting customer support for help with Pretendo issues: see above

Just worked on researching how to get #NAT type information on #WiiU and #3DS consoles. It's not quite complete yet, but from analysis from 4 different people (that includes myself) and different networks, I think it should be mostly complete.

It's important to have a NAT type of A or B if you want to play online multiplayer in a game like #Splatoon, so I would highly recommend checking it out if you're having connectivity issues on #PretendoNetwork.

News / Pretendo Network: You can now StreetPass your 3DS friends from anywhere in the world!

Have you had trouble finding anyone to #StreetPass for Happy Home Showcase in New Leaf?

If you have, the team at @pretendo have just made it easier! With the latest version of Nimbus (which allows you to connect to the network), you're now able to StreetPass people online from anywhere in the world!

However, it's not that simple. Due to the buggy implementation of StreetPass for some games, you'll only be able to StreetPass people you've friended on your console (well that's 0 for me). It makes use of a feature called StreetPass Relay which was used at Nintendo Zones which allowed you to upload your data and download others.

I think I'll just stick to real StreetPasses for now though (I got 3 in the last year). Anyone reading from the South West or West Midlands?

Hey everyone, by some stroke of luck the Spotpass servers for the Wii U and 3DS were not yet shutdown so it is still possible to obtain and submit archives.

If you have a Wii U or 3DS I highly encourage you to follow the guide on this site to submit dumps.
Even if you don't please spread the word so we can get as many dumps as possible and save as much content as we can.

Hey all, I just wanted to share with you a quick update about the work that @pretendo are doing!

From today, Pretendo's winter beta is officially open and there's some exciting news to share regarding this beta!

If you hop into Splatoon 1 on Pretendo Network, you'll now see your plaza populated with posts again from fellow squids!

I'm super excited to see Pretendo implement this (it was delayed for technical reasons apparently). I'll try and share some pictures later of the experience.

Also, you may notice that the title is slightly longer than usual and that is intended. To make posts stand out more for Lemmy users, I'm going to try and experiment with longer titles.

Is it worth trying to make a Pretendo sub-category?

#WiiU warriors, the wait is over. In this year's yearly beta for @pretendo, you can now officially play Splatoon in public servers. It's been such a long wait, but I'm glad it's finally here.

Before this, Pretendo only had support for Private Battles, and limited support for Splatfests.
