I love getting email and social media ads to remind people that an upcoming conference is "just around the corner" when I, a presenter at said conference, have not yet started to put my talk together.

A talk that greatly inspired us during the development of #iapresenter "How to Avoid Death By PowerPoint" by David JP Phillips.
It was almost 10 years ago, but there's still a long journey ahead to break free from bad presentation habits.
A must-watch and re-watch for anyone who wants to become a better presenter. -
I enjoy sharing knowledge through my blog posts, Medium articles, and presentations. When it comes to creating slides, I prefer using Slidev. Its markdown-based approach simplifies the process of making attractive visuals, incorporating code snippets, and managing revisions with git. Interested in seeing it in action? Here you can find one of my presentation decks hosted on GitHub Pages: https://aalmada.github.io/MasteringEnumeration/

What is your top tip for dealing with presentation nerves?
Mine is to practice your talk as close to real as you can. Out loud, with slides/props, in front of people, with tech etc.

Do you struggle with creating your PowerPoint decks from scratch and prefer to get your initial thoughts and bullet points down in Word instead? Spending way too much time copying and pasting from a doc to then build your PowerPoint slides? Those days are over! 🙌
In my most recent video, I demonstrate a simple yet effective technique that allows you to effortlessly import your existing Word document into a basic PowerPoint deck within seconds using the outline tool. Once you've imported your content, you can easily enhance it with attractive PowerPoint designs, resulting in a polished and ready-to-go presentation! 💥
This nifty trick has saved me countless hours of work over the years. Check out the quick video here to see it in action: https://buff.ly/3smXRpi

Well, I've sent my final-ish draft of my dissertation to my supervisor along with the video of the online presentation that I have to do. Also have to do a poster but I'm *nearly* there with my Med Ed Masters.
Year and a bit ago, never thought "stop using bullet points in presentations" was a thing you could actually do research into.

Visuals are crucial for impactful presentations. However, sourcing the right images can be a hassle — searching, downloading, resizing, and paying. 😫
What if you could simplify this? Well, I am happy to say; you can! 🚀Learn to integrate stock images seamlessly in PowerPoint, free and within the app. Access an enormous number of high-quality images, customise them, and add them to your slides to take your presentation to the next level. 🎨 And if you happen to also be a Microsoft 365 Subscriber, and even larger collection of images awaits you!
Check out my video to discover how. 🎥 https://buff.ly/44cxQWN

Haven't done a #PresentationSkills toot in a while. I've had a lot of chats about business and university templates for slides.
The templates are often there to improve accessibility. The difficulty is, they result in poor slide design even if they are accessible.
Lecturers need understand how to create accessible slides rather than being forced to use templates which frequently impair learning.
If you're responsible for these decisions - stop it!

It seems like the presenter has pre-recorded himself speaking paragraphs of text that are being streamed at me.
Not sure why this is a webinar vs just a download.

My call is underway, and is this guy really just going to read slides to me?

In order to give an impactful research presentation, you must carefully consider your target audience. Your audience are the people you are giving the presentation for. The people you want to inform, to convince, or to inspire. EVERYTHING you do, you should do for them.
In this video, I discuss how to target your audience and tailor your narrative to their needs.
