Area on left was treated with thinning and regular (almost every year) prescribed fire. Area on right untreated
Both areas burned in the Dixie fire in 2021, with fire moving from the right side of the image to the left side. The high density ponderosa pines on the right largely died (and not much new growth is happening) while the left side remains very much alive
