@macosken I remember a magazine interview with him around the same time. The interlocutor asked him his opinion on the Internet. He explained that he drove - not flew - from gig to gig and had a CB radio in his car so he could get the heads up on speed traps and accidents from truckers, but when he got near the city, there was always a dude in his underpants in an apartment screaming incoherently with the mic button taped down - and he figured that's what it would become.

@AlisonW but you really did not go to any and all lengths/ total due diligence - imagine scenario at nih and in health care generally...consider alternatives/computer and network diversity and excerpt from another post addressing these issues
computers are cheap - dirt cheap compared to rev loss and potential injury and exposure with regards to patients - they should have a diverse collection of networks and pc and os - not saying ahole is completely right but he may well have a point in some regards - you have big money but also people's lives on the line so be pragmatic and proactive to prevent occurrence in the future #prescient #mis/mal/non-feasance

#Reading #recommendation.. I'm just finishing up reading Martin Gurii's "The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium" (2014). It is absolutely #prescient.
It contains the best description of North America's current #political climate that I've seen; he clearly saw, writing a decade ago, exactly how toxic our collective #dialectic would get.
And more importantly, he saw the #danger it represented to our very democracies.
