  1. I had missed that #Ofgem's recent ban on the forcible installation of #prepaymeters was only a temporary measure.... come April, we're be back to vulnerable people having their homes broken into to fit meters that offer only the prospect of being cut off from vital #energy... sometimes the callousness of #business, makes me gasp....

    >Elizabeth Garrett says she returned from hospital to find British Gas subcontractors had taken her door off its hinges - and workers even made themselves a cup of tea as they force-fitted the meter

  3. The 'horror' expressed by #GrantShapps & the CEO of #Centrica, that people operating on their behalf are breaking into homes to install #prepaymeters is just yet more declaratory politics...

Of course they knew this was happening, but no doubt it was so masked in business gobbledygook that they were able to practice plausible deniability until a reporter (from the Times) went undercover & joined a crew doing the work...

There is no defence for their claimed 'ignorance' of what was being done!

  5. Another scandal is gathering pace:

the 'self-disconnection' of those people already transferred to #prepaymeters due to problems paying their #energy bills.

Therefore not only do vulnerable people pay higher tariffs & have difficulty accessing Govt. #energycrisis support, the energy firms have found a way round their statuary obligations limiting the ability to cut-off people in financial trouble from life-sustaining energy supplies!

    #Ofgem must act, fast!
