"Kelsie Norris-De La Cruz tried not to cry as the doctor in the emergency room delivered one of the most frightening diagnoses a pregnant woman can receive.
The 25-year-old college senior was told she likely had an ectopic pregnancy, a highly dangerous condition where the embryo implants outside of the uterus. Without immediate treatment, the fallopian tube can rupture — and the patient can die.
The law that has prohibited abortions in Texas since Roe v. Wade was overturned now explicitly allows doctors to treat #ectopic #abortion #pregnancies. But when doctors at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital evaluated Norris-De La Cruz last week, they refused to terminate the pregnancy, saying there was some chance the pregnancy was still viable, Norris-De La Cruz recalled. This is a topic people usually don't talk about. Women aren't educated on those muscles until they go to pregnancy classes and that's already too late. One of my aunt had to remove her uterus completely because 40 years ago women didn't even go to peritoneal rehab.

IMHO this is a very touchy and personal level of detail -- and loaded. Many teen girls are very shy about discussing this part of their health. While some may lose menstruation because they become too thin (not uncommon in high level female athletes) or for other #medical reasons -- the issue is loaded because of the potential to track possible #pregnancies, #abortion issues and abuse of the information. Reflecting back on my #pregnancies today. Both were pretty easy: I gained only a few pounds, I was only a bit nauseated, my anemia was mild and went away with a daily iron supplement.
All the worst parts all came from medical tests: blood tests and blood pressure cuffs, ultrasounds. So many appointments, and all the tests were so painful.
