  7. $46 saved grocery shopping last night with coupons and card, plus 4x fuel points for Friday shopping. The woman who mans the final checkout at that time of evening loves loudly exclaiming “YOU SAVED FORTY SIX DOLLARS!”, much fist pumping etc every time I show up with my extreme couponing shit. #povertyfinance

  13. @countablenewt Got real close to trying it out, seems like a good deal if you use a stack of those apps and are okay with the monthly sub. Dealbreaker is that I'm not okay with a monthly sub and I can't helping seeing those $ as a hamburger and fries rather than apps with free alternatives. #povertyfinance

Curious as to the reason you use Bartender?

  15. Broke my couponing record today! $48 saved with coupons and card, including an 8-pack of 20oz bottles of Powerade literally for free, which Frys gave me as a "best customer" reward. Literally would never have known about it unless I went looking for coupons, they don't notify or email you or anything, you have to check. All you do is just clip the damn thing in the app, check out with the item and boom. #povertyfinance

I would LOVE to have something like this. The individual plug reports showing usage and cost per day and per month along with the current-moment power consumption (allowing for realtime tweaking) is amazing and very eye opening. A consolidated view would be perfect. I have four plugs still to deploy around the house.

  25. Super proud of my #budget-conscious skills. Did a small shopping trip at Frys today. 4x fuel points if shop Fri/Sat/Sun. Best customer bonus got me a $6.99 8-pack of Powerade for FREE. The rest is just coupons, but for a total of 44% saved! I think that's a record. $18.15 saved for a final cost of $22.26. #povertyfinance

Bonus: moar frozen pizza, AND 18 eggs for $1.99.

  27. A reminder for #AZ #APS customers on time-of-use plans that Super Off Peak prices start today. 10am-3pm weekdays. If you have a pool pump that runs overnight, switch it to these hours during winter months to save a bit of cash. #arizona #povertyfinance

  29. Saved almost $18 in coupons etc last night. Doesn’t take much effort to finesse and that’s half the price of a tank of gas (for my car anyway). Or a quarter of a burger and three individual french fries from Five Guys. Or a cheap pocketknife. #povertyfinance

  31. @Ronnie @bengillam Yeah. I don’t think I have a minimum monthly service charge.

The time of day thing though is pretty useful. Now that I’ll have even cheaper (super off peak) hours during the day starting in Nov, for the first time ever I’m going to change my pool pump schedule to run during those hours instead of overnight. #povertyfinance

  33. Learned recently that Dollar Tree have something called the “standard essentials” range of home cleaning tools. An extensible handle, swiffer-style attachment and different microfiber pads for it and they even sell packs of wet swiffer pads (not wetjet, REGULAR swiffer). Each piece is $1.25 and the entire shebang is less than half the price, more versatile and STURDIER than a regular swiffer. You can sweep floors but I’ll also be using it to clean my windows/sliding glass door. #povertyfinance

  35. Aight. Today’s #povertyfinance update: broke my personal record for coupon/savings today - $47.91! Highlight was 1lb 80/20 ground beef for free (normally $6.79) for being a loyal shopper. Also got two of these super delicious m/w pizzas for $3.99 each. That’s 2.5 meals’ worth each.
