I love when neighbours give out Free To A Good Home plants. Potted two snake plants yesterday and they look happy.
The white pot is lucky to be alive. It rolled off my back seat when I opened the door, straight onto the bitumen. Saved by a pothole!

I hit one HELL of a pothole in Braintree on the way home today. I've had a massive headache ever since; it's been hours.

Next, I came across a #Mamdani #pothole patrol! In the first picture, a man fills a pothole w asphalt from the truck while another sets up orange barrels. Then I missed him using a broom w super long bristles to sweep the asphalt over the hole & begin tamping it down. Next, he gets the watering can filled w liquid tar, while a third guy tamps down the #asphalt. As he pours tar around the outside edge, the truck starts moving! Poof they disappear, dragging barrels behind.
Quite the spectacle.

As someone who regularly drives in both #Suffolk and #Essex I was surprised at the results as the #roads are little better across the Stour, but I think one reason for the govt allegedly using outdated figures in the case of Suffolk is their systems are from about 25 years ago and give near 0 feedback to any citizen who does report a #pothole (and both #Councils take months or even years to fix them.
Suffolk has got slightly better in recent times (since about 2024) , but they have only just got round to fixing road defects I reported in my local area not long after getting my #driving licence in 2019, so thats 5 years delay!

Drivers of a VW #van in #Wiltshire went over a #pothole 120mm deep full of water, their front wheel was broken from the steering arm, they lost control of the #vehicle and were involved in a #collision with an #ambulance before ending up in a ditch - luckily no one was injured but multiple #EmergencyService units had to attend the RTC #roads #infrastructure #UK #Transport

This headline evinces an inability to look outside the box. What we need is not better asphalt or better asphalt maintenance: what we need is a different road surface, e.g. brick pavers, that does not come from oil, does not leach toxins into waterways, and does not generate mountains of waste with every 10-year replacement.
