For Iranian new year, we usually had fish with rice cooked with dill and fawa beans.
I'm going low cost so I am making a chicken pot roast with lots of potatoes, veggies, and onions.
Covered the chicken with tapenad and garlic and used pomegranate syrup inside filled with vegetables.

It bugs my husband that I generally "wing it" when cooking for the family, but that's how it works when you've been cooking for a lot of people for a long time.
It bothers him because it means that a) he can't make the same "recipe" if he liked it, and b) there's a (IMO delightful -- I love the element of serendipity) lack of precision & consistency from one meal to the next.

Made this great #crockpotrecipes with pork loin and precut #ButternutSquash.
Only poured in 1/2 the broth amount because 32oz of liquid in #crockpot is waaaaay too much. Good rule with liquid in crock pots - or #potroast for that matter - is to cover protein 1/2 way up leaving top half exposed.
Add more herbs if you have them; I put in thyme sprigs and rosemary.

#Christmas when you're [early] #retired is one of the two of you getting up early to put the #PotRoast in the #InstantPot - then dunking it in the #ravioli sauce for 4 hours - thus allowing the other to sleep in til 10am. ❤️
