  1. What is not real is pretending that violence is secondary to discomfort over language

In my life, what is real is people being beaten and shot, blood on the walls, evidence fabricated, mass arrests, torture in prisons, borders closing, and fear becoming an everyday condition. Fear isn’t imagined. Fear is rational. What is real is watching a police officer chat casually one moment, then flip instantly into an instrument of state violence the next. A human being turns into a mechanism: boots stamping, braking toes, batons smashing heads, cameras destroyed, people dragged […]

  2. The Matrix lied to you. Freedom isn’t knowing the world is fake; it’s realising you can’t leave it. Race, gender, economy, nation—all simulations we keep performing to keep the lights on. Rousseau called them chains. Foucault called it biopower. I call it Tuesday.

Okay, great. Also glad we agree on the Scamazon.

We don't know how to sugarcoat this but basically the site you're linking to has Amazon trackers in the from of the images on the pages. They are served by Amazon in such a way as to make it quite possible in our view for Amazon to track someone as they access the site.

It is likely to mean that Amazon is able to #monetise a visitor's #resistance similar to other #postmodern era methods of cooption.

  9. #ThomasKinkade has been the joke of the high #art community for decades, even if the masses loved his idealistic work. Personally, I love his work. He could paint really well, and while he didn't invent a new #style, his paintings are food for the soul, promoting inner peace. His originals these days reach a million $ a piece, 10 years after his death. I just wish the art critics get a clue, since not everything has to be #postmodern and edgy. Some things are good enough simply by being "nice".
