  1. I've reached a point where I find overcast/rainy/stormy days more uplifting than sunny days. Not sure if that's the postmenopause talking or if my inner goth is simply featuring more prominently in my psyche.

  5. Does anyone else have to save photos like this as reminders of what "safe place" you've put something??? 🤣

To be fair, this is on a shelf above my eye line!

  10. CW: CW - Talk about AFAB health stuff, breast cancer, orgasms, etc.

So, I am AFAB. But I had an excellent encounter with my health care provider who appreciated my advice on how to increase her orgasms post-menopause (pumpkin seeds). She also was pleased to report that my breasts are no longer dense (yay to going bra-less since the pandemic), which will make things clearer should I develop #BreastCancer (which my half-sister died from). My blood pressure is down, and my muscle mass is up. A wee bit of #osteopenia, but hopefully I can reverse that.

  30. Once I hit menopause, my body rapidly changed. I went from feeling young and fit to old and frail almost overnight. I went from wearing a size small to a large, and since getting COVID in October, I’m suddenly a size XL and possibly still getting bigger. Having to buy new clothes all the time is expensive and depressing. I bought some pants which I only got to wear once before they were too small. It’s like going through a growth spurt in my childhood, except I’m not getting any taller.

Inositol was suggested to me by my naturopath to help with insulin resistance. I’ve been put on a limited diet. I’m not starving myself at all because that is bullshit. But I’ve completely cut out snacking, which I used to need to do throughout the day because of my ridiculously high metabolism. My metabolism has significantly chilled since menopause, so now I’m down to three meals daily and intermittent fasting. At first it was tricky because I had to figure out how much food I needed for each meal, but I think I’ve got it mostly figured out now.

I’ve cut out all sugars and simple carbohydrates. I’m still eating rolled oats because they’ve done wonders for my digestion, and I haven’t cut out dairy because my bone calcium is iffy.

Unfortunately, I think the inositol is making my guts unhappy. They always feel sour, and the way they roil around at night is keeping me from sleeping well. I think I’ll have to stop taking it for a bit to see if that’s what’s causing the issue.

Next week is a big week for me. I’m starting back up at the gym for the first time since early October, and I know all my muscles have fallen off. The first couple of weeks will be exhausting, and I’m also starting an evening class, so hopefully I won’t be too wiped to take any of the information in. I expect I’ll be napping a lot until my body gets used to physical exertion again.

I’m also getting my thyroid checked next week because apparently getting COVID can make it do loopy things. Why am I not surprised? It’s possible my thyroid is related to me suddenly needing to wear size XL pants.

Oddly enough, I haven’t gained a lot of weight. My body is metamorphosing. This isn’t even my final form. #CovidRecovery #BodyChanges #Menopause #PostMenopause #inositol #InsulinResistance
