"....During the months of April and May 2026, the Camarillo Police Department investigated a significant spike in mail thefts and related check fraud cases involving forged and “washed” checks. Suspects deliberately stuffed exterior mailboxes at the Camarillo Post Office with cardboard to overfill them. Unsuspecting customers, unaware the boxes were full, placed outgoing mail, often containing checks, into the overflowing receptacles. The suspects would then return shortly afterward and remove the mail before it could be collected by postal workers. ...."

I did not know this, but it makes sense: When you send a parcel, put name and address of both sender and addressee both outside and *inside* the parcel. So say the Universal Postal Union regulations:
"The office of posting shall also advise the sender to put in the parcel a copy of his address and that of the addressee."
