  2. I'm thinking about starting to collect German stamps, but as a fairly inexperienced stamp collector I need to read up on the country's philatelic history. I have the World History Stamp Atlas for a good overview and a recent Michel Deutschland catalogue, but what should I pick up for a bit more depth (that's not too dense for a newbie)?
My German is next to nonexistent, unfortunately so English or one of the Nordic languages would be best.

  3. There are some new #postcrossing stamps being released in the USA, and I am on a different continent!!!!

If anyone in the USA wants to send something to someone in the UK, I can send something nice back. :)

  4. So I now collect stamps :3 and now my sister does too. I got a bag of like 500 for christmas which I've still not sorted through.

I was gonna go to an antiques place today to buy some but it was closed. Luckily I found a charity shop that sold a few pages of an album someone donated.

I brought two pages (stamps on both sides) and Princess Diana ones. About £13 altogether.

    I'm tryna build topical collections.

  5. 📮🔗 Postage Stamp Swap 2026!!! 🔗📮

→ Do you like postage stamps?
→ Do you like trusting strangers on the internet?

    Then this is for you!!

    HOW IT WORKS:

✉️ You send me (in the UK) up to 100 stamps, by the end of January 2026.
✉️ I keep two in "payment" and send you back a bunch of different stamps from other participants, with as few duplicates as possible.

That's pretty much the gist of it. You can read more details and participate here: wiki.polyinpictures.com/w/Stam

  6. Update 2025-12-08: It's happening!! wiki.polyinpictures.com/w/Stam

    ~

Hey does anyone wanna swap stamps somehow, or do a big international stamp exchange thingy?

If enough people are interested (maybe 10-20 or so people, maximum 100 stamps each?)...

    1. Everyone participating sends any number of stamps to me, with a note that says the number of stamps they're sending and their full name, postal address for their stamps in swap, and email address for me to invoice for postage. (If they're in the UK they can just put sufficient stamps on their SAE.)

    2. The enclosed note can also say if the swapper has a preference for, e.g. used or mint, particular themes, etc. with the understanding that I will try to meet the preference but it might not be 100% possible.

    3. Stamps sent in can be mint, postmarked, on envelope paper, or off.

    4. I jumble all the stamps up and redistribute them to everyone, making sure no one gets anything back that they sent in, and keep 1 stamp from each envelope in "payment".

    5. I invoice people for return postage, and when people pay I post the swaps back to people with exciting commemorative UK stamps on the envelope.

Would anyone like to participate? :)

For a little context, I have done this in the past with tea bags and zines and both times it was really fun and successful. I would love to do both of those again too, so drop me a line if you want to vote for one of those.

  7. Li Cheong Hing, watercolor and postage stamp collage on postcard, Canton (Guangzhou), China, date unknown.

Sheaff collected about a dozen of Hing’s assemblages. They use stamp fragments from all over the world, including USA, China, Japan, Mexico, and UK. Let us know if you want to see more.

  8. From my dad’s collection, some commemorative stamps from the 1940s of a real president. #PresidentsDay #postagestamps

  9. In 1841, a woman decided she wanted to make decorative paper for her dressing table out of Penny Blacks. People were more than happy to send her their used stamps for free so she could do it. You can imagine how much her decorative paper is worth now!
