A highlight of the conference for me was from Nicole Jardine and Dan Snow from the Cook County Assessor's Office on using tidymodels to help allocate $16B in property taxes. It was amazing to get a peek into their model development process and learn about all of the factors they keep in mind along the way. (I do owe them a couple features in our packages.🙂)

  13. Anyone got any random nuggets of knowledge they learned at that they're still delighted by now? Mine came from @andyteucher and was using Ctrl + . in RStudio to go straight to a function definition!

  14. This weekend I finally got around to deploying a Shiny app wih webR! I've finally put together (almost) all of my plots into one place and it made it easier to browse based on the packages used! 📦

You can view the webR-powered app here: nrennie.github.io/tidytuesday-

  18. @cosima_meyer Truly inspired! Had to do the idea justice.

(this is probably the first use of sf::st_random() to generate pepperonis inside a pizza)

  19. In the spirit of all things "Wrigley" with in Chicago this year, here's Illinois rendered as a piece of gum in with (and my new in-development package for turning polygons into 3D meshes, ). Data from spData and transformed with the {sf} package and turned into a raymesh object (3D mesh structure provided by the package).

  20. @rOpenSci @Drmowinckels the reason because all this issues disappear is because CRAN create binaries.

When you have packages that never will get to CRAN because you can’t made them smaller you can use and you will have your binaries.

  21. If you're interested in discussing #parallel processing in #RStats at #PositConf2023, please let me know or reply here. I'm hoping we can have an informal hangout during Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to discuss what's missing, what's new and what's on the roadmap for parallelization in R. It doesn't have to be on just #Futureverse

(I'll arrive late Sunday Sept 17 and leave early Thursday Sept 21)

  22. posit::conf(2023)! is getting closer and I am getting so excited about meeting old and new acquaintances in person!

If you want to learn more about how has helped me and my users I'll be speaking in an awesome package dev session on Tuesday Sep 19 3:20 PM - 3:40 PM CDT (10:20 PM - 10:40 PM CEST).
