  1. 🚦OpenCitations has formally adopted the Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure (POSI) since its first self-assessment conducted in 2021. At that time, we were still in an early phase, using the process to reflect on key strengths and challenges, particularly around governance and long-term sustainability.

📈Since then, OpenCitations has evolved significantly, expanding its services, data sources, and team, while strengthening its infrastructure and governance framework.

🎉We’re now pleased to share our updated #POSI self-assessment (April 2026). It highlights this evolution, provides a comprehensive snapshot of where we stand today, and reaffirms our ongoing commitment to building open and sustainable scholarly infrastructure.

  36. Today's must read from @gbilder

"Pick an infrastructure organization you depend on.

If they have not endorsed POSI, ask them why.

If they have endorsed POSI, read their self-assessments with the same scrutiny you would a research paper you were about to cite or a contract you were about to sign.

If they haven’t updated their POSI self-assessment in more than a year, ask them why.

    I’ve created a dashboard to help with this." 🔥 🔥 🔥
