#FreeBSD #portlife every time I port a rust project to FreeBSD I get a little thrill of satisfaction, at how straightforward and easy it is. Cargo and crates are perfectly aligned with the wider FLOSS ecosystem.

And every time I port a go program, I deal with the confusing go.mod and goproxy architecture, and it does not spark joy. Moreover it initiates a flood of annoyance. I am sure there is a Google scale use case in here but it's very much not aligned with the FLOSS ecosystem, it rubs against the grain.
