Hopeful these $$ will support #progressive #policy proposals, incl. affordable #housing & public options for #FoodSovereignty:
Federal #NDP parliamentary funding reinstated — $670K for 2026–27 — after the Board of Internal Economy revised allocation formula to reflect each party's share of the #PopularVote. NDP will use the funds to hire research and support staff to better serve their constituents in #Parliament.

Instead of redrawing districts every two years so states can counterpunch each other to gain seats, why not just get rid of the #ElectoralCollege and just enact a straight-up #PopularVote
Just end this dog and pony show and stop the cheating!

TO THE PEOPLE WHO RIDICULED ME for continuing to believe #OrangeHitler STOLE the 2024 #election via #VoterSuppression & tossing #AbsenteeBallots, famous #ElectionFraud documentarian #GregPalast HAS THE NUMBERS.
#Harris should have won 4 of the 7 swing states, 286 #ElectoralVotes (of 270 needed) and the #PopularVote by 1.2M.

I suppose an optimistic view is the POTUS-elect didn’t win more than half of the #PopularVote nor did he surpass how many popular votes #Biden won when the first #Trump administration was still fresh in everyone’s minds. Here’s hoping Trump admin 2.0 has less drama…Already looking too optimistic!😅
-
#Trump got very close to a majority of the vote in this presidential #election, but not quite. It is not exactly the "unprecedented & powerful mandate" he claims.
This year's #PopularVote margin is the 2nd-closest since 1968 & still tightening. It shows…that any shift to the right is marginal.#Republicans are likely to have the same or a slightly smaller #House majority as now, & there’s evidence that many Republicans voted for Trump but not for Republicans in #Senate.

CW: USpol; Trump's popular vote share is below 50%. That's not a mandate
The next time anyone tries to claim a "mandate" for Trump and his Project 2025 agenda, refer them back to this:
https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/donald-trump-vote-margin-narrowed/
He barely edged out Harris.
-
And here is the same popular vote count chart, plotted on a logarithmic scale, with a trend line fitted to each data series. Adjusting the X axis like this means that the trend shows up as a straight line.
This is not at all a scientific way to estimate the final results, but you can see a rough approximation of what the final numbers might be in two or three more weeks. The popular vote will be very close in the end, but Harris will not overtake.
-
Here's the presidential popular vote chart for day 14, compared with where the totals were at this time in 2020.
The gap between Trump and Harris continues to narrow (and Trump is about to drop below 50% of the total vote according to Wikipedia). But the growth of both totals appears to be slowing relative to 2020. That likely means that the remaining votes are being counted a bit faster than last time.
-
I updated my chart of the ongoing presidential popular vote tally, now you can compare today's results (day 4) with the trend from 2020. As you can see, the Harris numbers are increasing faster than the Trump numbers. When all the votes are counted several weeks from now, the popular vote tally will be very close.

⚫ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲:
𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘙𝘌 𝘞𝘐𝘓𝘓 𝘉𝘌 #𝘋𝘌𝘈𝘛𝘏.
This is how complex systems learn. It will take a decade to play out, but this will ultimately be a hollow victory for those who are currently ascendant. Because the rout is so complete, every branch of government, they (𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘦) will indulge themselves without limits, and ultimately own every odious action, forever.
A generation from now, after I am dead, no one will freely admit they were enthusiastically part of this.
𝙒𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧.
So we have no other choice but to go through it. Do what you need to do to survive this and preserve as many vulnerable people as you can.
Some of us will need to leave, yet will be unable to. If I did not superficially resemble the favored image of a #RealAmerican perfectly, I would certainly have to escape. I talk too much. If I were young, I would be out of here within months.
#DEATH, the great teacher. We WILL learn. We will overlearn. We will be #PTSD for at least 2 generations and do some foolish things because of it, but #WeWillLearn.
𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪𝙨.
But Death does more than teach. It removes possibilities. 20 years from now, when this psycho-drama has fully played out, will there be an authentic #democracy again? #CivilLiberties? A #FunctionalEconomy that benefits the common citizen? Will there even be basic #Peace? Will #TheEnvironment fall off a cliff? Will #christofascism prevail?
All, some, or possibly even none of those losses will come to pass. The future beyond this impending administration is simply unknowable.
But we can be certain of this: Death will come.
𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙪𝙨.
Death will teach us, and our progeny a lesson that hopefully will get used immediately after. Or at least someday.
This is obviously a #hingepoint in #WorldHistory.
We, the #progressive-minded, long ago made the fatal (Yes! Fatal!) mistake of believing our values were 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹, 𝗼𝗯𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 and 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.
𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨.
What we are about to experience, on the other hand, is 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹, should have been 𝗼𝗯𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀, and was perhaps even 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.
#Liberal society is not natural. It must be maintained. You can not, must not, ever stop dancing or it goes away. More than a marathon; the work is forever. We got tired & perhaps lazy, and now we & our opponents get to experience the lessons that Death will provide us.
There will be many #heroes and some of us will die.
𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚.
Who and what will survive will often be arbitrary and capricious. Like tornado damage.
As our #chaos spreads to the rest of the world, mostly through our strategic absence, there will be more #refugees than the #MAGA movement could ever imagine. Maybe we will take in some of the White ones.
We just elected #Trump (including the #PopularVote).
We will get destroyed.
......and we will deserve it.
𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩.
It is my #StakeInTheGround. 🗡
#TheRegime will have to remove it. And if they do, it will mean they are afraid of it. I win either way.
When Death does come and does its thing, please pay attention, store it in your long term memory, and share it with future generations.

#Trump win in #Wisconsin puts him over the top. The full count is not over, but Trump appears on course to win the #PopularVote. He would be the first Republican to do so since George W. Bush in 2004.
Vice President #KamalaHarris’s defeat marks the second time in 8 years that a #woman became the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee only to fall short of a barrier-breaking victory. #Harris’s campaign said she would address the nation on Wednesday.

@stux Put in my "two cents" but it's "hope" iso "think", because, imho, I can't "think" with any confidence of how the #electoralcollege monstrosity will or will not reflect the #popularvote 🤔

Harris and Trump Are Blowing Up the Case for the Electoral College

With the race between #Harris and #convictedFelon, #rapist #Trump being nearly even, #Kamala needs to learn from the mistakes of #HillaryClinton. If the antiquated #electoralCollege isn't in her favor, but the #popularVote is, she must NOT concede. She must demand #SCOTUS to award the victory to her, just as #GeorgeBush did against #AlGore. #Hillary conceded too early.

@jcrabapple
I've been saying for a while now that "The Media is playing #ADangerousGame" by running #poll after poll showing what a close race this is based on questionable #polling.Because the #PopularVote could be extremely close, but if #Harris wins most states with just 0.1% more of the popular vote in each state, the map could look like the '84 Regan/Mondale result, which would elicit screams of "PROOF of a stolen election" by his #Cult, inciting violence & endless recounts.
-
@dude @Nigel_Purchase @lovelylovely That would help but also make the popular vote the winner. In America you can win the popular vote but lose the election.
#VoteBlueToEndTheMadness #HarrisWalz2024 #popularvote -
What is this #delusional idiot talking about? #Trump has never had a #mandate. He has never gotten more votes than his opponents. Ever. He only "won" the #2016election because of the realities of #ElectoralCollege math. He lost the #popularVote by millions of votes. And there's no reason to believe he'll win the popular vote this time. The last #Republican #President to win the popular vote was #GeorgeWBush in 2004. Trump is a #clown.
-
"And Donald Trump will be only the second major party nominee to lose the popular vote three times since the Civil War (William Jennings Bryan is the other).
Now, in a rational democracy, that would be the end of the story. But we live in America. We cannot be as confident of the result in the Electoral College states."

"This will be Democrats’ fifth consecutive popular vote win, which has happened only once before since the Civil War (Truman in 1948). It will also mark their eighth popular vote win out of the previous nine presidential elections, which has never happened before."

#WahlThread #IRV #USA #USA2024 [1/7]

The #American #EnablingAct.
#Hitler’s ultimate rise to #power was the result neither of a #popularvote nor a #coup, but an “Enabling Act,” or more precisely, “The Law to Remedy the Distress of the People and the Reich.”
